At the moment shared hosting powered by cPanel are not able to Node.js. Although running Ghost which is a blogging platform can be run on shared hosting but with some patches and limitation that shared hosting providers aren’t that happy with it.
The good or the bad news is Node.js could be running on shared hosting if this feature request on cPanel feature request list make it through mainstream.
For those who want Node.js on shared hosting, please go ahead and up vote that feature request.
